PSU/ LAIKA/ PWLF 2026- SMITH HALL PROJECTIONS
On the issue of cropping of LAIKA supplied media at Smith Hall…
NOTE: Image cropping seen here is exclusively due to the fact that we only had 2 of 3 windows within a single projection zone covered for our projection test.— sorry for this confusing detail!
…Volume UP for explanation form Andrew:
Each of five projection areas is essentially a non-cropped 16 x 9 image.
PROJECTION TEST/ 11. 6. 25
NOTE: Image cropping seen just below here is exclusively due to the fact that we only had 2 of 3 window within a single projection zone covered for our projection test!!! (see video directly above for context/ explanation)
Performance test of 1 of 5 of the 16,000 lumen projectors we will be using at Festival. Along with this, we are testing our window- mounted rear- projection surface material. With good results here, and with further ambient light management planned for the nights of the festival, we are satisfied.

Basic, proposed treatment
Seen below here is a video transition style Andrew proposes to incorporate. Most simply put, the individual vertical windows are incorporated as “transitional tiles” integrating the movement of scenes into the architecture of the building, and bringing a stylistic unify the movement of the entirety of the five projection zones .
…Volume UP for further explanation form Andrew:
Basic, proposed video projection treatment- NOT FINAL- - - VOLUME UP for explanation from Andrew. Proposed lighting treatment for columns and steel brackets to be further described by Andrew.

INFINIFATHOM
“The infinity mirror effect never gets old.”
–Visitor
While the effect of the mirrors may only allude to the concept of infinity, the lived experience of this environment—with its infusion of video and sound design, plus dynamic lighting which introduces shifting lines of sight—continually reinvents the experience.
3 chamber Mirror Room Experience at Fathom, PDX, with Roboto Octopodo, technical design, show control by Evan Greenwald.
This continual reinvention sustains a bridge to the deeper mind, which earnestly reaches for and wrestles with the concept of infinity.
The engagement unfolds across three interconnected chambers, separated by two-way mirrors. As lighting transitions between spaces—bright in one chamber, dim in another—the mirrored surfaces shift between reflecting the light and allowing it to pass through. At times, you may see into an adjacent chamber; at others, you’re met with multiplied images of yourself within your immediate chamber.
This oscillation between inward reflection and an “infinite” outward vision stimulates a more conscious, playful connection with our sense of orientation—an internal negotiation which may evolve into an exercise in self-perception and in navigating one’s place within the infinite.
